Experience

Donald van Dansik has honed his urban planning skills in Europe and in Asia, collaborating with OMA, projects cover a wide range from the Euralille new Business district, the winning competition design of the city centre of the Amsterdam new town Almere, Masterplan for new waterfront of Genoa, the Media city of the Seoul capital region, for Inchon on new land in the Yellow Sea, and number of projects in the middle east, consulting Global engineering companies on urban design. He led a vast team of designers in cities in the West of Holland to establish a regional plan including Amsterdam and Rotterdam, designed as the template for long term infrastructure investment in the region ‘Randstad’. He joined Space Group recently for business development in the EU, with a focus on France and Holland. He kicked of his career writing in a series of Dutch architecture magazines, this independence led him to join OMA, on Koolhaas’ invitation to set up the communication and research department Groszstadt that made its mark through a series of exhibitions on the work of OMA, starting with ‘The First Decade’ in the Museum of Rotterdam and the production of SMLXL. During this time he began his collaboration with OMA on Euralille, the project that brought OMA and the city of Lille on the front page of Time Magazine He was professor in the University of Eindhoven for the diploma year, from 1999 to 2005 and directed PhD research (on the Sustainable city in Egypt). In OMA he joined forces with Gary Bates for the Inchon media valley project and outside OMA he joined forces with Gary, teaching a semester in the Architecture faculty in the University of Austin.
